I found this article too difficult to dismiss. Anyone who can tell me where it goes wrong, please do : but not by dismissing psychoanalysis. I'm already doing that. I just need a good reason why this guy is wrong:

This is a simple exercise. Some might consider it an experiment but I prefer to call it an exercise in awareness.
Start a journal of daily activities and events. It can be as detailed or as simple as you want. After a couple days of keeping this journal. Find an illustrated dictionary. Randomly open the dictionary a few times. Skim through the pages that you randomly open to and look for a few topics that genuinely interest you. Note these down in your journal. Think about the time/space context of these topics for a moment and reflect upon how everything is in some way or another connected to everything else. Now comes the interesting part. As you go about documenting your journal of daily activities and events you will begin to notice what you may consider to be coincidences of encountering your topics. But after a few days you may begin to feel that something entirely beyond coincidence is occurring. This may be subtle at first. But gradually you will begin to notice an astonishing amount of connectivity in events, activities, and topics that you 'randomly' chose from the dictionary. Part of what I feel allows this to take place is what I call Open Interpretation. If we open our mind to multiple interpretations of everyday events and activities we begin to sense the connectedness of time and place and events. For some this may seem like rubbish. For me, it is undeniably real, and as symbolic as the acronym RED. Take time to reflect upon the micro and the macro and all that in between.

shouldn't the unobserved events leading to synch be running up instead of down? This is an interesting idea though.

"It is generally supposed that distinctly quantum-mechanical effects do not show up on the macroscopic level. However, it is shown here that the uncertainty principle imposes a drastic limit on the predictability of the detailed motion of a collection of colliding hard spheres, or 'billiard balls.' "

I enjoyed skynelson's attempt to use quantum physics to theorize about synchronicity and his "deep conviction that science can explain, literally, everything.". His explaination has some intuitive sense to it. I say intuitive because if we go back to the basics of science we visit again that science is based on the scientific method which requires that after observation, hypothesis formulation and prediction, experiments be performed to confirm or rule out the hypothesis. Later a theory is put forth. Unfortunately, with synchronicity experimentation is missing and not possible, therefore, it will always remain in the realm of metaphyscics.
Secondly, not all scientists have or do share the idea that science will or can "explain everything" I offer a few quotes which offer another point of view, "The entire universe has to be understood as a single, undivided whole, in which analysis into separately and independently existent parts has no fundamental status." Bohm or "...all knowledge in the conscious content is a differentiated system that cannot by definition articulate the universal principle of order." M Kafatos, R Nadeau or "There must exist, beyond mere appearances (...) a 'veiled reality' that science does not describe but only glimpses uncertainly. In turn, contrary to those who claim that matter is the only reality, the possibility that other means, including spirituality, may also provide a window on ultimate reality cannot be ruled out, even by cogent scientific arguments.” B.d'Espagnat

The resultant theory has the following properties: the electromagnetic (i.e. Maxwell) field and the gravitational field appear as special cases of the matter-radiation field, along with a continuous gradation of these into forces which may be identified with nuclear forces on a sufficiently small scale. Inertial mass, gravitational mass, and radiation appear as different aspects of the matter-radiation field. The theory includes, as special cases, Newtonian mechanics, relativistic mechanics of a mass particle, and quantum mechanics. The probability field introduced in quantum mechanics is replaced by a matter-radiation field, which is an integral part of the theory rather than grafted into particle mechanics. In this way the sharp division between particle and field is eliminated; the zero-point infinite energy of quantum mechanics of fields is eliminated and given a new interpretation; the uncertainty principle is reinterpreted; the infinite energy is eliminated of, for example, static, electric, magnetic, and gravitational field potentials, as the separation of test body and source tends to zero. A simple model of the origin of gravitational force can be based on the theory, along with the suggestion of direct manner of altering this force by use of present technology. Other implications of the theory can be listed, among them a resolution of the apparent paradox between local realism and quantum mechanics as formulated in the Bell-type inequalities.

== Unity of Nature essay ==
Abstract from "The Unity of Nature and the Search for a Unified Field Theory" by Dr. Frederick Alzofon This paper exploits the observed transformability of radiation into matter and its converse to develop a theory that is unified in the sense that radiation and matter appear as different aspects of the same field: the matter-radiation field. The paper is based upon and discussed from a classical viewpoint, emphasizing conceptual aspects, rather than the theory's formal structure, which has been detailed elsewhere. It is shown that, by incorporating an observed property of radiation into the basis of the theory -- fluctuations in the intensity of the radiation comprising a light signal in a vacuum -- the Lorentz group of rotations can be extended to include translations of space-time, of vanishing average magnitude. Moreover, a fundamental nonvanishing average alteration in the metric of space-time (a quadratic expression), analogous to the case for Brownian motion is induced. The corresponding alteration in the equations of motion for the field gives rise to equations of motion of Bose-Einstein and Fermi-Dirac matter-radiation fields. |
